Over $3000 was raised for Tickled Pink for Bright Pink by guests who attended the event at Wandering Tree in North Barrington last weekend.
Elaine Silets, “The Train Lady”® & President of Huff & Puff Industries, Ltd. has worked to create a one of a kind destination in North Barrington. Originally a weekend retreat for Elaine and her husband, their passion for the beautiful property and trains grew into the incredible estate now known as Wandering Tree.
The estate was set with fabulous vignettes throughout featuring entertainment, food and libations. Everywhere you turned at Wandering Tree was a beautiful photo opportunity. Modern Luxury Brides of Chicago worked with Tickled Pink for Bright Pink, to bring all the ideas and vendors to the property – and there was plenty to see and enjoy!
The main tent immediately behind the event check-in featured a fun and formal wedding reception theme. Biagio Events & Catering served small plates of savory selections and ‘Tickled Pink’ martinis. Beautiful table settings and lounge areas gave party planners plenty to think about while the Michael Walter’s Trio played upbeat R & B music. Vendors responsible were Arena Americas, Platinum Events, Emily Wheeler Custom Cakes, Classic Party Rentals, ACA Entertainment, MDM Entertainment, Diana’s Bridal Boutique, Christine Janda Design & Events, and Kate Johnson Artistry Bridal.
The pool area showcased a Hampton-Style wedding reception. Paramount Events created an all white theme from the flowers all the way through white Ray-Ban style sunglasses on the white-clad service staff. A bride wandered around the pool, as servers passed out refreshing beverages. The tent along the pool gave elegant shady areas to lounge and listen to music.
The beautiful Japanese gardens with many flowing water features, held lounge seating along the water and a tent set with an Asian theme. Lychee martinis, sushi and small carryout boxes of Chinese cuisine provided by Catered by Design were enjoyed as a trio of red-wigged violinists entertained. Guests walked along the properties 4-acre lake, watching brides being photographed on a swing hanging from a magnificent oak tree. Grass covered furnishings provided by AFR Event Furnishings, offered a respite and an opportunity to sit lakeside.
A large Gazebo greeted you at the edge of the lake and was set to host a formal wedding ceremony. A beautiful bride stood at the entrance greeting guests as they wandered in and took a seat that also looked out over the lake.
Around the corner from the Gazebo, an arched trellis led to what looked to promise a path to a secret destination. The path did not disappoint! A giant oak tree was the backdrop to a garden wedding celebration. With tropical details and candles set under small trees creating the aisle, it is the perfect spot for a ‘destination-style’ wedding without the travel.
Other areas of the estate held additional surprises: a crystal chandeliered formal table set under tree arbors, a small building containing a DJ and a dance floor, tented lounge areas with different style elements and plenty of food and drink to sample and savor: Cotton Candy of different flavors, gelato & ices, Bellini & Sangria, beef wraps, ratatouille and more!
Did I mention Elaine’s trains? The railway makes its way through lush gardens filled with miniature features including bridges, tunnels, depots and more. The incredible private railway museum was also open to guests of the event. A visual trip through Chicago featuring miniature versions of some of the city’s favorite attractions including:
- Millennium & Grant Parks
- The Art Institute
- Union Station
- Goose Island
- Morton Salt Shed
- Chicago Tribune Printing Plant & more
